Recently, UAF Biology Assistant Professor Devin Drown has been using Decision Theater North once a week as a teaching tool for his Human Microbiome (BIOL494) course. Our interactive environment allows students to work in pairs on analyzing microbiome samples while projecting each student's laptop screen on Decision Theater screens.
The Massive Collaborative Animation Project is an animation production consisting of students and faculty members from various schools, worldwide, working together to deliver a short animation. MCAP consists of multiple production phases allowing students from different areas of study to contribute their talents. Collaborative work help students to develop their creativity and give team work experience. 3D Animation productions often require many participants. MCAP facilitate a collaborative working experience for students in schools of various sizes and locations.
The American Red Cross needs your help!
The American Red Cross in Fairbanks and the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) are conducting a mapathon to update spatial data in Delta Junction in a format compatible with 911 computer-assisted dispatch.
Join us in Decision Theater North (location and directions here) on March 8th from 9am - 4pm to help out with this endeavour! Lunch will be provided!
EPSCoR is hosting an all-day Virtual Reality Seminar in DTN on March 13, 2017, for those interested in developing their project or seeking inspiration from others already involved in virtual reality across Alaska. It will feature short presentations, group workshops and technical demos with scientists, researchers, students, artists, designers, content developers, small businesses and other members of the community from around Fairbanks and across Alaska.
The UAF Alaska Satellite Facility is celebrating their 25th Anniversary with a First Friday Open House. The welcome ceremony is from 4 - 4:15 pm, and FREE events for the public will continue until 7:00 pm.
There will be a tour and presentation highlighting Decision Theater North at 5:30pm in the Decision Theater North (which can be found on the "0" Floor of the West Ridge Research Building (WRRB).
The Decision Theater North had some most welcome publicity earlier this year when the local newspaper, The Fairbanks Daily Newsminer, highlighted some up and coming collaborative workspaces in the Fairbanks area.
