March 8th - Mapathon in DTN!

The American Red Cross in Fairbanks and the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) are conducting a mapathon to update spatial data in Delta Junction in a format compatible with 911 computer-assisted dispatch.

  • Learn how to OpenStreetMap. Contribute your skills and knowledge to a global open data mapping community.

  • Collaborate with HOT to apply the principles of open source and open data sharing for humanitarian response and economic development.

  • Help create relevant mapping information for the census area of Delta Junction, Alaska, which will be used for Disaster Assessment and Disaster Relief Operations.

  • With your help, responders will have access to a common-operating picture to community directions and addresses to arrive on-scene more quickly to perform life-saving duties.

  • OpenStreetMap mapping specialists will be present both in person and virtually.
